Destinations Career Academy is Wisconsin’s first online Career Technical Education (CTE) focused school. Districts face challenges offering various CTE options due to limited budgets, fewer available instructors, and diverse student career pathway interests. Destinations Career Academy’s part-time CTE program presents an innovative solution to help students begin their career pathway while in high school.

Operating Engineer Pre-Apprenticeship Program
The Operating Engineer Pre-Apprenticeship Program is an innovative partnership between Destinations Career Academy, Wisconsin Operating Engineers, and Fox Valley Technical College.
Courses offered:
- Operating Engineers Construction Career Exploration
- CDL Prep (Senior Year preferred)
- Three courses aligned with Registered Apprenticeship:
- Basic Construction Equipment Fundamentals
- Basic Grade and Construction Math
- Basic Maintenance of Mobile Equipment
- Opportunity for Advanced Standing Credit at Fox Valley Technical College
Advantages for Students
Tomorrow’s workforce does not want to wait to prepare for a career. The Operating Engineer Pre-Apprenticeship Program allows students to complete required apprentice coursework while still in high school.
Advantages:
- Graduate with more than a diploma
- Ready to start as an Operating Engineer Apprentice immediately after high school (go to the front of the application list!)
- Complete apprenticeship requirements while still in high school
- Save money on post high school tuition (approx. $150/credit)
- Gain workplace experience with area contractors through job shadows
Destinations Career Academy’s Operating Engineers Pathway is a collaborative effort of Wisconsin Operating Engineers (IUOE Local 139) supported by the International Union of Operating Engineers National Training Fund.
With Destinations Direct or Wisconsin Part-Time Open Enrollment, your students can jump-start their future by taking CTE courses at Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin. Destinations Career Academy’s Operating Engineers Pathway partners with the International Union of Engineering Operators and its Wisconsin affiliate, Local 139. The invaluable consideration for our staff and our students to be successful in their classrooms while in high school, as well as ensuring supports and guidance as soon as a student graduates. This partnership is seven (7) years in the making and the Local 139 team is absolutely wonderful to work with.
